We never went to sleep on the 3rd. We finished camp, had a quick good-bye meeting with the leaders, and then packed 15 of the staff into a minivan to begin their trip home. They left at 1 am on the 4th. We went to bed for a few hours. But soon we were awake and packing up all the supplies into the car. By 9:30 we had arrived at my co-workers’ home in Kapenta.
We found a crew of Americans gathered there for the holiday. Serving in several different locations and with a couple different organizations we found our fellow countrymen and gathered for games, fellowship, and good food.

Aubree and I were thrilled to eat a real breakfast after three weeks of camp and then to take hot showers, instead of the cold bucket baths we had the previous week. It was a full day of lots of yummy food, great volleyball, horseshoes, hiking, swimming, visiting and “fire” works.
We enjoyed another couple days of rest and fellowship before making the trek back up the mountain to Mumba. Now it’s time to unpack and get settled back in after a month of craziness and serving God.
