looking out my kitchen room window to my wood shed where all the energy for my cook stove and bath water is stored
Mnaada - when the market comes to the 8 village area. It's like having the mall come to you! There are hundreds of booths set up with vendors from the cities selling used and new clothing, farm supplies, bike supplies, housewares, etc... Not only can you buy supplies every month, you can also see family from surround villages as you all gather for this special day. It happens in our area on the 4th of every month.
buying shoes made from old tires.
Sugar cane - the most common snack in our area. It takes strong teeth to eat it though:)
If you look beyond the shadow to where the finger is pointing you will see a small line of 'siafu' - army ants!
All the missionaries together for the 4th of July, 2009. We had a great party with torches, fireworks, hamburgers, eclairs roasted over the fire, volleyball, etc....Because I am in Dar and have a decent internet connection I thought I'd load some more pictures of my life onto the Blog. These will be random but fun!
Colton is one of the MKs who is home for college now. But he was back this summer and excited to keep up the tradition of flaming torches for the 4th of July.
Justin and Jessica tried hard to fix my generator. It seems to have a minor problem, but I will have to have a mechanic look into it more. They worked hard on different projects for me around the house after camps were finished.
TThis is the church in the village of Jangwani that I usually attend.

It was so great to have my little brother Justin visit me this summer and help with Camps. We Finally remembered to get a picture of us together when we were in Dar at the Indian Ocean. He's not so 'little' any more:)

On the safari we saw lots of birds. This is a Weaver's nest that is hanging in an acacia tree.
