Worship Seminar - 2009

This was our first ever worship seminar here in Tanzania. We are praising God that it went better than we expected. There were 70 attendees from more than 15 of our churches represented nearly all the various regions of our churches.
With the help of missionaries from the Rukwa Valley and Zambia, we were able to divide them into 5 classes for specialty workshops. The guitar players, the bass players, the keyboard players, the singers/songwriters, and the elders. In only 4 days it's amazing how much they learned. Hopefully much of what was taught will continue to sink in as they return to their villages and put it into practice.
With our faithful translators we taught by example. We wanted to teach them the concept of worship sets that have a theme and are focused 100% on the Lord. This meant that the translators had to do all the singing (as they knew the songs in Swahili) and had to teach their teachers the songs. The Teachers quickly wrote the chords needed to play each set. We spent much of the weekend before just practicing!
Of course while Moms and Dads were teaching the seminar, the Missionary Kids had fun hanging out! I'm thankful for the bigger ones keeping an eye on the little guys so that Mom could teach in a workshop.
