Praise the Lord for a great team of counselors and leaders for this year’s camps. We just finished a very full two and a half days of training. Every staff member had to learn all the activities and lessons that they would teach.
Trying to fit all the lessons into two days is difficult but we did alright. It is always great to teach the staff. They love learning, especially from the Word of God. Sometimes they have so many questions that we have to cut them off so that we don’t get too far behind.
Some highlights:
Singing, “Heaven is a Wonderful Place”
Eating the watermelon that they found in their treasure hunt. Some had never tasted it before.
Making “fish” as a reminder of this year’s camp. We taught them what the “fish” means and they were thrilled, having never heard of that before.
Steve Sherman came and taught a class about communion and led us in a Communion service.
Learning volleyball from Aubree and Damian.
Tradition is that all the staff and cooks come to my house for a party! Last night we had 48 people squeezed in my living room for a rice and meat meal with some cake (another special treat for them). Aubree decorated the cake specially for them and they said she would go down in the history books for that!
Making Banana Bread
I’m also grateful for the team of cooks and deacons who worked from morning to night in order that everyone ate well.
