This past weekend we held our first Seminar in the city of Mbeya for the Youth. It has been discussed and planned for several years but always fell through. Finally it has come to pass. We are thanking God for working in and through us this weekend. It was a learning curve for us as life in a big city is much different than life in the village, there are different “traditions” and things to consider when holding events in a city. One example is that we had to finish each day by 6:00 pm or so in order for everyone to get back home via public transportation while it is still light and safe.
We studied the entire book of Ephesians and our theme verse was, “Eph 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” In Swahili the phrase comes across more like – “Don’t be stupid, learn the will of the Lord”. The book of Ephesians is full of so many wonderful truths and directions for our lives. The two and a half days that we spent in it, didn’t even touch half of it. But still we were filled with Spiritual goodness!
I’m thankful for my co-worker, Cory, and the other local pastors who taught with us this weekend
It was a blessing to have the team from South America with us. They helped with skits, special music, and shared their testimonies. It was a great encouragement for the Youth here to meet other members of the Body of Christ from across the world.
There are many young churches in this area so the Youth were excited to have this seminar. They had more questions for the teachers than there was time. All great questions showing a desire to learn more and more about God’s Word. In fact we have decided to hold another mini seminar in three weeks on a Sunday afternoon while I’m passing through Mbeya on my way back from dropping my team off in Dar Es Salaam. How cool is that? These Young people are full of questions and just want to learn more and more.
