A Year Full of Weddings 2013

How I’m praising God for all the weddings this year! This week we finally finished this part of our ministry for the year.   Praise the Lord that I was able to encourage and celebrate with 13 couples as they were married this year.  Only a handful of these newlywed were unknown to me. The majority were former campers. That makes it extra special to actually know them and joke with them as they get ready.

On this map you can see my house (blue house) and all the places we did weddings (green flags), where we did camp this year (green trees) and the conference (purple tent).  For those of you good with maps, from my house to Sumbawanga (town) where we buy supplies and get mail, is 26 miles (40 km). Needless to say, we did a lot of travelling.

Just a summary of all the newlyweds.  Many of you will feel bad about the serious faces. It is cultural not to smile as a bride or groom.  It is a passing tradition so you may find some pictures where they cracked a smile but for the most part they will be looking down and respectful.  When they don’t keep their heads down enough all the grandmas start getting after them.  It’s hard enough to get them to even look at the camera for a picture.

Praise the Lord for all these young people who are attempting to start this stage of their lives in a right way.
