TASGRACO

Tanzanian Students of the Grace Community

We have a unique opportunity here to set up Bible Clubs in local High Schools and Colleges.  Government schools set aside class periods each week for students to take part in religious activities.

Students in one such High School set up this club and asked us to pass it on to other High Schools.  They chose a name which works as an acronym in Swahili and English.  Every week the clubs meet to study the Bible, sing, and pray.  They often have a choir which travels to local churches on Sundays to minister. They will help each other celebrate when they graduate or when they join the club. Because many of the kids study in a village which is away from their home, they take care of each other when they get sick or have a family funeral.

We help these clubs by talking to School Administration to set the clubs up as well as find local pastors to teach in each club. We also prepare a syllabus for the year’s Bible Studies. We attend annual graduation celebrations for each school. We hope to have an annual Conference for students from area schools.

As more and more villagers send their kids to High School and vocational training centres, there will be more and more opportunities for us to open clubs in schools.  Pray for these kids as they are inundated with peer pressure and the opportunity to get rich.  It is hard to stand up for Christ in such harsh surroundings.  We know that because of their education, many will be future community and church leaders, we hope they will be grounded in the Word so that they will be a great testimony wherever they end up.

Surely enjoyed reading your update about what Christmas looks like there. =)

Our family has just recently moved from Colombia to work in Argentina, so we are having our first Argentinian Christmas! =)

Blessings,
