Ministries

As we near the end of the School year here.  Our TASGRACO Bible clubs through parties for the kids in their club that will graduate.  It’s often a long day but good because through the course of time, many of the students have been campers or attendees at camps and conferences through the years.  Going to High School is a privilege so it is great to celebrate with them and an honor to pray for them and their upcoming national exams which will determine whether they continue to study or not.

It is also wedding season once again.  Word is getting our that we rent ($10 or so) wedding gowns and they look great.  More and more are coming to get them. If they don’t come with the bride, then they find a local girl who is similar in size and have her try on dresses. Or brides from nearby villages come themselves and we turn my bathroom into a dressing room.

Joeli and Gladys graduated last year from the Kapenta Vocational school and we were there to celebrate their graduation. This year we are celebrating their marriage.  As I was helping her try on dresses, she thanked me for being her teacher. I had forgotten that she was part of the morning classes last September which I taught to single girls during a church conference. We talked about waiting for the right man and setting high standards.

After on graduation party, they asked me for help in transporting a new pastor and his family to their first church. I was reluctant because I had come with a car full of people. The local church leaders worked out a solution – If transported them to their village they would find enough motorcycles to carry three of my passengers to the meeting place.  This way I could bring much of their supplies and children. It added a couple hours and a few more kilometers to an already long day, but it was worth it.  I’m sorry I didn’t get a good picture of the car full of things, but this is the couple. Mama Dani has been a camp counselor for the past two years. They have 6 children, one of whom will finish High School this year.

Each year there are pastors and their wives that decide to follow the Lord’s leading and move their entire family far away from home, extended family, their farmland, etc…   They can use your prayers.
