Arrivals and Departures

With every adventure, we must depart and arrive. We leave family and friends behind. We leave our home culture and say, “Good-bye.”  Then we try to fit as many items as possible into our luggage as we prepare to fly away.

There are things we leave in storage for our next return, things we decide we will never need again, and things which we carefully wrap to travel to our new home.  We pack pictures of family and friends, we pack spices for our favorite meals, we pack electronic items that are hard to live without, we pack clothes and shoes, and we pack our books, bibles, and tools of ministry. Before long our luggage has exceeded the 50# allowance and we decide what stays behind for now.

IMG_20171128_160725222I am in the midst of this packing and storage adventure. By God’s grace, I am departing and soon will be arriving. Next week I will arrive in Malawi and unpack it all! The adventure begins with a new place, new language, new culture, new team, and new job description. Ready or not—Malawi, here I come!
