It was a Friday night and I was asleep. I had a dream that I was having a horrible toothache. When I woke up at 3:00 am, I really had a toothache. For the next few nights I was lucky to sleep for three hours before the pain would awake me.
A few days later I was on a bus toward Mbeya where I would catch a flight the next morning to Dar es Salaam. That afternoon I had an appointment with a back up dentist as mine was away. Thirty minutes after I boarded the bus, it broke down! We sat on the side of the road for 2 hours until they sent a new bus to continue the journey.
After arriving in Dar es Salaam I received a text message from the dental office telling me that my regular dentist was back and I was set to see him. That was good news as he is one of the best in the country. In the big city, you never know how long the traffic jams will take so you always leave early just in case. I arrived at the office 1 hour ahead of time. Another blessing was that the doctor saw me early. After a quick x ray he knew I needed a root canal. Since it was his first day back to work, his schedule wasn’t as full as normal. He asked the receptionist to push back one person for a bit and started the root canal immediately. I was finished before my original appointment time. He then made plans to arrive early the next morning and to move someone back so that I could get the preparations for a crown the next morning before catching my flight back.
I am so thankful for how the Lord made it possible for him to be there and to do the work. God’s timing is great!
After Thanksgiving I returned to Dar and had the crown installed. Now I am pain free and my tooth looks like new!
How far have you travelled for dental work?
