Life has slowed down a bit and that’s okay. There are only a couple weddings left this year. Yet, there is never a dull moment, whether it’s planning firewood for the next year—which is used for cooking and hot water for bathing, helping to jump the tractor which carries all the firewood, catching up on accounting, planning for next year, figuring out Budgets for teams that are coming, translating curriculum, and meeting with Youth leaders in meetings and by phone. We are excited the the rains have returned. Slowly but surely we are adding to our hours of electricity each day! It also means all around us people are working hard to get their fields planted.

Yesterday we drove 2+ hours away to a wedding Send-Off. This means the bride has a party at her home and everyone gathers for a service and giving gifts and celebrating with her family. Then she will head to the groom’s home (which is usually far away) where the wedding and his side of events will take place. This wedding was one of the furthest I’ve celebrated. In fact the groom is of the Masai tribe. They are known for their traditional dress and cow herding. They are also mostly from Arusha in northern Tanzania. He and his family and escorts traveled 2 days to get to her home. You can see on the map their journey. They still had some of their traditional costumes and everyone around here was in awe! It was a great celebration.
