Week 3 -- Marriage Camp

This last week of Marriage Camp was in the village of Kipeta, in the Rukwa Valley. I had not been there for 7 years. At that time it was just a few people meeting in a home. Now it is a healthy church.

This was the first time where we had a camper come with his 2 wives. Godfrey took his brother's wife according to local custom after his brother died. A few years later, all three of them came to know the Lord. They are regular members of their local church. We let them take part in camp. Sometimes they felt shame as we had games set up for couples, but they learned a lot.

In these pictures we are playing a game where each couple is tied together for a good chunk of the last day. This teaches them to communicate and it helps the men to stick with their wives, even if she is changing the baby's diaper. This couple had to go together to carry a bench for a class they had under the tree. It was a challenge for Godfrey and his wives.
