In the fall of 2007, I ordered a solar fridge to reduce costs here in the field. It was shipped to Idaho and packed on a shipping container. The container went through a long process before making it to the ocean and then to Tanzania. Finally it reached the Rukwa Valley. From there we searched for a way to get my fridge up the mountain to Mumba. Finally on my Birthday in Jan. 2009, we took the topper off of my truck and Mike Benton drove my truck down to get my fridge. We thought he'd sleep and return the next morning but he turned around that same day and surprised us.
It was really a great Birthday present! I'm so grate to him and Steve Sherman who helped install the solar panels and batteries and fridge over the next couple days.
It is so nice to have a large fridge and not have to worry about finding propane ever 4 weeks for it!
